Can you introduce yourself and talk about who you organize with?
My name is John Doe I am a supporter of the Revolutionary Communist Party and I organize with Saskatoon Against Fascism.
Can you talk about the action that took place on Feb. 13th?
So what happened was various groups got together because a lot of them all planned an action roughly the same day. So we all got together and decided to blockade 22nd Street and Idyllwild. All and all we had around 300 plus people show up, local cops knew we were coming ahead of time due to someone leaking to the wrong person. The original plan was to have the activity kept under warps until the blockade actually happened.
Was the action successful? Will more actions continue in Saskatoon?
Over all I say the action was successful, what was a blockade turned into a march around downtown. And yes the group has big plans in the works which I cannot discuss due to security.
What was the RCP’s role in the action?
The Revolutionary Communist Party’s role was to strictly facilitate when they could. Which involved providing a megaphone to the speakers, provide material and space for banner making, provide meeting space, help with postering, and they even aided in securing wooden pallets as the original plan was to use them to blockade the street and provide protection the people.
Who else was involved in the action?
A coalition of people under the name of We Stand With Wet’suwet’en Saskatoon, Idle No More, representatives from Cree Nation, Dene Nation and the Sioux Nation.
Whose traditional land is Saskatoon situated on?
Saskatoon is Treaty 6 territory, traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, as well as the Métis.
In your opinion what should revolutionary forces be doing now and going forward to combat against colonial violence?
We as revolutionaries must stand firm and resolute against Canada’s colonialist violence towards all Indigenous people. We must all be willing to put our bodies on the line for them. This means doing everything from the little things to the big things.
Where can folks find you online?
People can find us at @PCRRCPSaskatoon on Facebook.
Any last words?
As long as the RCMP remain in Wet’suwet’en territory we will do everything with our power to bring Canada to its knees. This is an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation and thus the Wet’suwet’en struggle is a just struggle.
